Senior Designer
Hey, you! Azai Studios over in Brooklyn, NY, they're on the lookout for a Senior Designer. You know, someone who can steer the ship when it comes to all things creative...branding, digital wizardry, and real-world design. They're after someone who thrives in the whirlwind, can paint a masterpiece with pixels, and loves to mix it up in all sorts of industries. Sounds like your kind of gig?
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Salary: Competitive, Starting at $65k - $XX based on experience + Profit Sharing
Okay, we know this is a lot to read, and our attention spans are basically goldfish-level these days, but stick with us...Outlier entrepreneurs...those peculiar, sleep-deprived, half-genius, half-delusional types...tend to reshape the world. At Azai Studios, we take their grand, unwieldy ideas and make them look and sound as brilliant as they they are. Through branding, experience design, advertising, and technology, we try our best to craft visual narratives that give the world a reason to care about these ideas.
We specialize in brand identity, digital experiences, and strategic storytelling, translating abstract ambition into something that doesn’t just sit prettily on a pitch deck but actually works. Our clients span hospitality, luxury goods, CPG, finance, and tech, which means one day you might be designing for a jewelry brand that costs more than rent, and the next, for a fintech startup claiming their AI is more powerful that the previous person. If you can navigate these industries with grace, curiosity, and just a touch of cynicism, we’d love to talk.
About the Role
As a Senior Designer, you’ll be entrusted with the delicate task of making things look amazing, while convincing everyone they were always meant to be that way. You’ll lead the charge on creative direction across a chaotic yet thrilling mix of client projects, shaping everything from brand identities to digital experiences and experiential design (which is just a fancy way of saying, “things that exist in the real world”).
You’ll work hand-in-hand with our design, strategy, and production teams, navigating the fine line between creative genius and project deadlines. Your job? To make things resonate, stand out, and occasionally dazzle, all while keeping a straight face when a client suggests Comic Sans or to "make the logo bigger."
What You’ll Do
- Lead conceptual development from ideation through execution, ensuring high creative standards.
- Craft brand identities, digital experiences, and environmental graphics with a sharp attention to detail.
- Conduct research and visual exploration to inform design strategies.
- Translate complex ideas into compelling visual narratives that align with client goals.
- Work closely with developers, strategists, and production partners to bring ideas to life.
- Present work confidently to internal teams and clients, articulating design rationale effectively.
- Lastly, you’ll serve as a mentor to junior designers, who will look to you for guidance on taste, process, and how to make things look effortlessly cool while quietly panicking inside. They’ll study the way you work, ask endless questions about your shortcuts in Photoshop, and occasionally send you Slack messages at alarmingly late hours. You, will ignore those messages when its off office hours, nod sagely, dispense wisdom, and pretend you didn’t also Google the same question five minutes ago.
Who You Are
- First off, You’re the kind of person who sees a blank page and feels possibility, not panic. A conceptual thinker with a strategic mind, you can take an abstract idea, wrestle it into something tangible, and make it look like it was effortless all along.
- You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments, where ideas fly, deadlines loom, and the occasional existential design crisis is just part of the creative process. That's just the truth.
- You can articulate your ideas without sounding like you swallowed a thesaurus, presenting work with the perfect balance of charm, confidence, and (when needed) just enough technical or design jargon to make clients nod along enthusiastically.
- Your toolkit includes Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and whatever else gets the job done, and you wield them with the confidence of a magician pulling rabbits out of a hat...except your rabbits are polished, pixel-perfect, and always on-brand, oh and also, with no spelling errors, its 2025, ChatGPT exists, use it please 😂.
- You have a deep, possibly obsessive love for branding, digital, and environmental graphic design, because nothing excites you more than crafting visuals that make people stop, stare, and (hopefully) understand.
- All in all, you’re the type who wants to create work that makes people stop, stare, and ask, “Whoa, who did that?”
