Suite 303, a hair studio by celebrity hairstylist April Barton, first planted its seed in Chelsea Hotel back in 1997. With their new move to Noho, they thought it was time to take their digital identity to the next level. Suite 303's marketing team already had a website in place, though the conversions were lower than expected. Our job was to revamp their design and turn it into a driver of new clients.
The original website and branding wasn't being used to its maximum potential, so we tightened up the brand identity by keeping the red and black logo as the only accent color. We wanted all new original content to be the visual driver to re-brand. This set the precedent for the rest of the site.
Constructed by the object that built the brand to what it is today, we figured it would be a good object to focus the logo on. Since April started her quest in room 303 at the Chelsea hotel, we wanted to make a bold statement with the typography to display the numbers.
Brand Identity & Art Direction
There is something special about this space, and you will notice it right when you walk into Suite 303. From the art on the wall by local artists to the music playing in the space, everything resonates with this bad-ass-rockstar vibe. It's about the full experience when you're getting your hair cut, styled, or colored. We wanted to make sure the brand and its visual identity reflected this. From the colour pallet of reds to the gold skulls, it needed to be fresh, punk, and intriguing.
A day at the studio
Content is key, and with a brand like Suite 303 we needed every medium to tell the story of what it is to be part of the 303 family. Azai Studios had their hands on everything, from the art direction of the photography to the storyboarding and direction for cinematography. These were used across both digital and print mediums.
Combining a clean look, parallax navigation, background cinematography, and brilliant red accents, Suite 303's online presence reflects the punk-rock and artistic feel of the celebrity hair studio. With strategic content that is chic, sophisticated, and smooth, we show the hair studio's versatility and value.
